Willie Creighton

Willie has always been interested in woodwork and has made working in the material his life’s passion.  Since qualifying as a carpenter, joiner and cabinet maker in 1977, he has continually developed his skills in the use of wood.

Purchasing his first lathe in 1995, he has pursued his interest in woodturning by training under such well known masters as Glen Lucas, Joe Stevens, Tobias Keys and Richard Raffan.  Willie’s main influences would include Felix McCoy of the Ulster Chapter of the Irish Woodturners Guild and Seamus Killeen, teacher and mentor.

Willie serves on the National Executive of the Irish Woodturners Guild and is a founder member of the Craobh Eo (Mayo) Chapter of the Guild.  He is also a member of the Crafts Council of Ireland and the Tree Society.
